Yes we can track Purchase Order with sales Order.

While Creating Sales Order  under logistic tab you can find field Procurement Document and Just check that field and Wizard will be opened and finish the Wizard automatically the PO is Created.

So now you can track those details in sales order line level in the fields PoTrgNum in RDR1 table.
