1. How much OK it is, to assign a single routing to multiple alternate BOMs while creating PVs for all alternate BOMs?? I presume that there should be separate routing for each alternate BOM. is this correct? If yes, then please suggest me that how can I create routings in mass as number of BOMs are hugh. Is it possible with LSMW?
You can assign the single routing to the multiple BOM in production versions.
It is not necessary to have different routing per BOM if the manufacturing activities (operation sequence time) is same then you can use the same routing for all the BOMs.
2. System ignores all the BOMs, down the line, after the BOM which has been marked for deletion. So I presume that this lock should be implemented by locking the respective PV, instead of locking the BOM directly. As locking the BOM directly in CS02 also hides it in other displays like CS11, CS12, etc. is this correct?.
In Material master MRP 4 view you have an option for BOM selection Selection method = 3 3 Selection only by production version. Lock the production versions which you don't want to use.
The BOM no longer exists on the specified date, or contains a deletion indicator or status is inactive will be not explode.
