Hello Amar,

1.

"

We are planning to refresh one of our old test SCM system with production data. Versions are as below.

Target SCM - SCM 7 EHP2. Target LC - 7.7.07

Source SCM - SCM 7 EHP3. Source LC - 7.9.21

For SCM version part I think target will automatically get the source version after ABAP system refresh. But for LC according to note 457425 versions should be same on source & target. I am planning to install LC 7.9 on target server then upgrade patch to 7.9.21 & then restore the backup from production."

- If the source SCM system is on SCM 7 EHP3, the target system should be on SCM 7 EHP3 as well

Then you could run the liveCache copy from source to target.

- If you plan on Homogeneous liveCache copy using backup/restore.

Then the source & target system should have the same liveCache version including the LCA build,

Check the output on the source system using TA /n/sapapo/om13.

The SCM system backup & liveCache backup should be created in sync for the restore on the target system:

SAP note:  886103 - System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM

The liveCache server platform are the same on the source & target systems.

- What is your SCM database & how you are planning to copy it?

2.

Use the MAXDB studio after you run the MAXDB kernel 7.9 for the backup/restore the liveCache

You could create the complete liveCache backup on the source system in sync with SCM DB,

transfer it to target system.

Before to run the recovery of the liveCache on the target system, check that you are user the save operation platform on target server as on the source liveCache, install the same version of the liveCache on the target as on the source. Run "sdbregview -l" and compare the LCAPPS package + liveCache kernel package versions.

Add the target liveCache in MAXDB studio with control user & run reinitialize the liveCache for restore, continue with restore, recover the DB from the backup, you created/selected the Backup template pointed to the correct backup.

A)

The MAXDB studio documentation is available at MAXD library 7.9.

SAP MaxDB: The SAP Database - Documentation

Select 7.9

Tools - Database studio

Restoring Databases: Overview - Database Studio - SAP Library

B)

SAP MaxDB: The SAP Database - Training

Session 2: Basic Administration with Database Studio

Session 11: SAP MaxDB Backup and Recovery

3.

Review the SAP note:877203 - Post steps after the Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/

and SAP note:  886103 - System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM

=> Check on the post steps listed in the note before the target system will be released to the users.

Regards, Natalia Khlopina
