Re: WebI Rich Client fails to launch and close down shortly with session time out error.

I have experienced this problem many times. It seems that Webi retains its connection in temp directories after it is closed. The problem has been quite consistent particularly during upgrade installations.

If that connection data is no longer valid to the opening environment, this message will appear - on my Win 7 environment it doesn't matter whether I'm disconnected from the network, or when my Antivirus is on or off.

When I delete all BOBJ files in TEMP directories it always seems to stop the error.

  • Webi must not be running in the background
  • In Win 7 the TEMP directories with BOBJ folders were in 3 different directories under \Users\username\AppData:
    • ./Local/Temp
    • ./Roaming/Temp
    • ./LocalLow/Temp.
  • In each of the 3 open the TEMP folder and look for Business Objects, and delete the files.
  • If you are still experiencing difficulty, try removing files in:
    C:\Users\username\Documents\My SAP BusinessObjects Documents\LocData\Webi\Settings

 

Apparently temp files may fail to release obsolete connection states when Webi closes. Most annoying.

 

I hope this works for other people as it has been difficult to root out the problem.
